2022 Ate Em Up Season Winner

The Ate Em Up award was originally supposed to just be a Defensive award, but that quickly changed.

In the chaos of a game, I like to look through and find that little something that others may have missed, or give credit to that guy that didn't give up on a play and then that play won the game.

Sometimes it's not a hidden gem. Sometimes the gem blinded everyone in the stadium.

Sometimes that gem is Bam Martin-Scott making a key block against A&M to bust Leggett loose for a Touchdown on the opening kickoff.

Sometimes that gem is Austin Stogner sprinting as hard as he can to get to a block to allow Juice to take a catch to the house.

Sometimes that gem is Spencer Rattler breaking the single game Touchdown record in one of the greatest victories in school history.

Honorable Mentions:

Tonka Hemingway - Tonka really had a great season, with some extremely memorable plays. Most of those plays played major roles in a few victories too.

Kai Kroger - Most weeks Kai was in the running to win the award. Honestly, he probably should have gotten it a time or two.

Spencer Rattler - Spencer was a 2 time winner and his performances against Tennessee and Clemson will be talked about for ages.

Juice Wells - Similar to Kai, Juice was in the running more weeks than not. Although he didn't win an individual week, he had to be included in the running for the season winner.

For me, this was a no-brainer. As I looked back at the season and asked myself, "B, who should be the Ate Em Up winner for the 2022 season?" Every single time, this guy's name was at the top of the list. Every single time, I went game by game, this guy was at the top of the stat chart.

He was expected to get some backup playing time, but an injury early in the very first game of the season forced him into the fire. Instantly, on a 4th and short, he put his face straight in that fire.

And that's why, without a shadow of doubt, the 2022 ATE EM UP SEASON WINNER IS ... NICK EMMANWORI
