Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint - Greenville, SC

D and I got tickets for the PBR event at the Bi-Lo Cen-, Bon Secours Wellness Arena, and was trying to find somewhere to eat.

I'll admit, she did tell me earlier in the week to find something, and I didn't do it, so by the time Saturday rolled around, everything was booked.

We were both scrolling through our phones and she goes, "What about this new burger and beer place?" I said, "I like burgers and I like beer. Sure!"

That place ended up being Jack Brown's Beer and Burger Joint.

We rolled into downtown and there was an empty spot, literally, directly across the street. It's almost like it was meant to be.

When we walked in, the place was packed but there was room at the bar, so we just sat there. I don't need a full table to stuff a burger in my face.

Jack Brown's has a few different cool "gimmicks" that they do. The first is, they have a different burger of the day and on Saturdays, it's a different burger every week. They call it "The Freestyle Burger." We'll get back to that in just a minute.

The other is their "Notch Club". When you go in, if you want one, they'll give you a sheet of paper for you to "notch" the beers that you drink. The goal is to get you to try more and different beers (and to buy more beer, of course) and with every new beer you try, you can notch it on your card. It also has a spot so you can grad the beer, so you'll remember if you liked it or not when you come back. Once you hit 100 beers, you get your own Jack Brown's mechanics shirt, with your name on it, and are invited to different events that Jack Brown's puts on across their locations.

As you can see, it's not hard to find a different beer each round.

Beer is great, but this is a food blog, so back to the different burger every Saturday part.

When we sat down, the waitress/bartender handed us the menu and was giving us the lay of the land - pause, ok, so I have to be the old man for a minute. I LOVE my music loud, but when I have to scream to my wife sitting right beside me in a restaurant, it may be just a tad loud - she pointed out that on Saturdays they had their Freestyle burger that changed every week.

Honestly, I wasn't really paying attention because I just get a bacon cheeseburger everywhere, but then D goes, "so I take it that's what you're getting?" I looked up and said, "huh?"

The waitress goes, "It's a burger with Alfredo on top on a Texas Toast bun. That's what he got." As she pointed to the guy beside me. I looked over and asked him how it was and it said, "It's really good. It be even better if it had some bacon or prosciutto. Oh, and it is a little heavy though."

Well it is carbs on top of carbs with the whole family of carb children along for the ride, so of course it is.

When it was time to order, I did take his advice and added bacon ... because, bacon!

Ladies and gentlemen, The Fredo Corleone. It's a burger with Alfredo and Monterey Jack cheese ... and my bacon.

When they came out my first thought was, "um that's kind of small for a $10 burger." In reality, it was the perfect size.

If I'm being honest, I don't know that I really tasted the pasta. I mean, with everything else there, that's the least dominant flavor in the basket.

As far as the burger as a whole ... phenomenal.

I eat loads of carbs on a regular basis, so I really didn't have any problems devouring this burger.

D got the Cobra Kai, which has cream cheese, pickled Jalapeños and Jalapeño jelly and we split the fries.

(For one of my "notches" we did a nod to Johnny Lawrence)

The second she took a bite all I heard was, "oh my gah why haven't I thought of this before?" Which was then followed by, "I'm eating every burger like this from now on." Which means yours truly will be the one having to make that happen.

The fries were absolutely delicious and the crunch is addictive. It's really hard to not eat every single one of them. The single order with our burgers was the perfect amount for us.

Every single person we spoke to was super friendly and helpful, even the guy that splashed water over my shoulder haha. Maybe it's what they're going for, but I think they very easily could fill out a building twice the size that they have.

This is now, 100% our new Downtown burger place. I think it's also safe to say it's a top 5 burger in all of Greenville, too.

We're going to the Carolina vs Clemson hockey game this weekend, and I can tell you exactly where we'll be going for dinner before.
